Fojo Media Institute - our impact on the media industry:

Unique Scandinavian collaboration on COP 28

To prepare journalists for COP 28 in Dubai (the 28th sessions of the high-level UN meeting to address climate change, limit emissions, and safeguard the environment) Fojo arranged  a unique day of preparations in partnership with Nordisk Journalist Center in Århus, Denmark and Instituttet for journalistikk in Norway, who similarly to Fojo have missions to provide vocational training to mid-career journalists.

Event host Lars Broström and the Swedish chief negotiator of the Coptalks Mattias Frumerie.

The event was arranged in a hybrid format with journalists participating in Århus, Oslo and Stochkholm. Representatives from the three Scandinavian governments took part, presenting how they see the COP 28 discussions, their respective focus and hopes for the talks. The climate ministers of Norway Espen Bart Eide and Denmarks Dan Jörgensen participated as did the Swedish chief negotiator of the Coptalks (and “climate ambassador) Mattias Frumerie. Kurt Vandenberghe, the newly appointed Director General to DG Clima (the EU Climate ministry) also participated and spent an hour online with the Scandinavian journalists discussing the EU position on COP 28.

The day also included practical ideas on how to best cover the climate talks, among others by Fiona Harvey from The Guardian, who won prizes for her coverage of COP 26. The event involved the Danish minister connecting from Morocco, where he was attending a board meeting with the World Bank.
