Impact Report 2022
Our work spans large geographical and thematic areas. In the Impact Report, we summarise how our activities have affected journalism in Sweden and around the world.
Things we do or have done
- We have trained over 60,000 journalists from 100 countries and supported media organisations in 35 countries, where 87% experience limited press freedom.
- We are a part of regional and international networks that encompass over 100 journalism education programs in XX countries. All are committed to nurturing the future of journalism.
- Every other week, we deliver newsletters to 600 Swedish journalists from local news media and leading research in fact-checking to approximately 4,000 Swedish journalists.
- In 2022, we conducted four one-day and three three-day training sessions focusing on the importance of fact-checking in journalism. We offer ongoing fact-checking training for Swedish journalists, led by industry experts from across Europe.
- We have contributed to groundbreaking progress in gender equality and facilitated the implementation of policies for gender equality and against sexual harassment in media in countries such as Ethiopia, Somalia, Rwanda, Myanmar and more.
- We fight for the right to information and support countless journalists in their investigative work through our online RTI Helpdesk.
- We guide Swedish journalists in understanding and reporting on current EU decisions through a specialised online platform.
- We conduct media literacy training for journalists, media educators, high school and university students to help them navigate and understand fact-checking and the current media landscape.

- In 2023, we were proud hosts of the world's largest gathering of investigative journalists, #gijc23, highlighting our commitment to shaping the global journalism landscape to build democratic and sustainable societies.
- We offer a training program for individuals who have studied and/or have work experience as journalists outside of Sweden and want to work in the Swedish media. Through our program, they receive an in-depth introduction to and practice within the Swedish media.
- We regularly host expert-led online lectures for journalists on pressing global issues, covering a range of perspectives from the Ukraine conflict to AI advancements and human rights issues at the Fifa World Cup. Our lectures provide up-to-date insights and perspectives from academic experts and practitioners.
- Together with journalists and media experts from around the world, we regularly publish reports and books from our various programs that bring together different perspectives and expertise, building a bank of research on sustainable media and journalism.
