Fojo is working with two partners in Cambodia, the Cambodia Centre for Independent Media and the Cambodia Communication Institute of the Royal University of Phnom Penh will be partnering within in a regional project funded by the Government of Sweden to strengthen the capacity of mid-career journalism training institutions in Southeast Asia.

Over the next three years we will work with initially six partners in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam to strengthen institutional capacity including the ability to manage the training institutions effectively and efficiently. The project will, through peer-to-peer sharing and learning, enable partners among other to develop relevant course content, master new media, and carry out training needs analyses.

The underpinning philosophy of the project is that the journalism training institutes will be able to draw on each other for professional support and moral encouragement. It will be the first such network in Southeast Asia and will be able to draw upon best practice from around the world, aiming for centers of excellence in journalism training in Southeast Asia.

Fojo Media Institute has been working to develop the profession of journalism in Sweden and around the world for 45 years. Our approach has always been collaborative and partner driven. We recognize that our partners must be allowed to develop sustainable journalism institutes that are relevant and appropriate to their contexts.
