Fojo and UNESCO host roundtable discussion on media self-regulation

A roundtable discussion on media self-regulation was organised today for senior members of the Jordanian media, government and civil society. The roundtable took place under the framework of the EU funded and UNESCO Amman Office implemented “Support to Media in Jordan” Project, as part of the project component on self-regulation that is implemented by Fojo Media Institute.

Study tour in media self-regulation for Jordanian senior members of media, civil society, and government

From 4-14 December 2016, a delegation of ten senior members of the Jordanian media, government and civil society will participate in a study tour on media self-regulation organised by UNESCO Amman Office and Fojo Media Institute. Under the framework of the EU funded and UNESCO implemented “Support to Media in Jordan” Project, the delegation will visit Sweden, Denmark, and the UK and meet with self-regulatory bodies, leading media organisations, public service broadcasters, journalists’ unions and government officials and media experts.

Integration – på riktigt!

Runt om på svenska asylboenden sitter det journalister från olika länder och väntar på att få besked om de får stanna i Sverige eller inte.
Under nästa vecka kommer 11 av dem att utbildas i svensk journalistisk grundkunskap på Fojo i Kalmar.

Defying Hate and Threats against Women Journalists

Den 2 december kommer tio framstående kvinnliga journalister och skribenter till Stockholm. Det är Utrikesdepartementet, Medieinstitutet Fojo, Svenska Institutet och Svenska Unescorådet som bjuder in. Vi vill inte bara uppmärksamma 250-årsdagen av världens äldsta tryckfrihetsförordning utan också lyfta fram de journalister och författare världen över som inte låter sig tystas.

Government reiterates support to media reforms in Myanmar

Gender inequality in media and the challenges of ethnic and community media were at the heart of discussions at the annual Myanmar Media Development Conference where Minister of Information, U Pe Myint, expressed continued commitment to the media reform process.
The exceptionally high turnout of more than 300 representatives from the media, government, military, judiciary, civil society and international press freedom organisations at the meeting from 7-8 November in Yangon was, if anything, a clear illustration of the continued sense of importance invested in the media reform process in Myanmar.

Press Release: Gender and Ethnicity in Focus at Upcoming Annual Myanmar Media Development Conference

The fifth Media Development Conference, tentatively scheduled for 7-8 November, will lavish special attention on issues of gender and ethnicity in Myanmar media. This was the message coming out of a preparatory steering committee meeting on 1 October in which Minister of Information Dr Pe Myint took part in discussions on the theme and agenda of the Conference.
