Fojo concerned about Belarus arrests
Fojo Media Institute is expressing severe concern about the mass arrests of Belarusian journalists on the first week of August. All detained journalists has since then been released, but some charges remain and allogations are not cleared.
Rights groups have charged that the government is trying to muzzle independent media that are critical of strongman President Alyaksandr Lukashenka and his government, according to Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty (RFE/RL). The Belarusian Foreign Ministry has denied that allegation.
