IPDC agrees to fund 41 projects on media development

The IPDC is the only multilateral forum in the UN system designed to mobilize the international community to discuss and promote media development in developing countries. The Programme not only provides support for media projects but also seeks an accord to secure a healthy environment for the growth of free and pluralistic media in developing countries.

The Swedish Ambassador to UNESCO, Anna Brandt, chaired the meeting and Fojo’s Head of Policy and Development Lars Tallert participated in his role as Sweden’s representative in the IPDC Intergovernmental Council. The meeting agreed to fund 41 projects in Africa, Latin America, Asia and in the MENA region, promoting media development and freedom of expression.
