GIJC 2023
The Global Investigative Journalism Conference
Fojo co-organises the 13th Global Investigative Journalism Conference
The next Global Investigative Journalism Conference (GIJC) will take place in the coastal city of Gothenburg, Sweden from 19-22 of September 2023. The Conference is the world’s largest international gathering of investigative journalists and held every two years. We are thrilled to announce that Fojo co-organises the conference in close collaboration with the FGJ (Swedish Association of Investigative Journalism), as local co-hosts, joining the GIJN (Global Investigative Journalists Network) as the main organiser.

The GIJC is the world´s largest international gathering of investigative journalists, bringing together over a thousand investigative reporters and editors from around the world. The conference features training on the latest tools and techniques, cutting-edge workshops, and extensive networking and brainstorming sessions.
Previous Global Investigative Journalism Conferences have been held in nine countries, including Brazil, Denmark, Germany, Norway, South Africa, and Ukraine. As in previous years, GIJC23 will feature a robust fellowship program to bring journalists from the Global South and other regions to the conference. Donors and co-sponsors who want to support this high impact event can contact the organisers here.
The conferences are widely credited with playing a key role in the rapid global expansion of investigative reporting over the past decade. By focusing on skills and training, they have helped spread state-of-the-art investigative reporting, data journalism, and cross-border collaboration around the world. Attendees have returned home to run groundbreaking projects into corruption and abuse of power, launch investigative teams and nonprofit centers, and spread investigative reporting to where it is needed most.
