{"id":3818,"date":"2026-01-12T13:36:34","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T12:36:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fojo.se\/en\/?p=3818"},"modified":"2026-01-12T16:43:06","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T15:43:06","slug":"eight-bangladeshi-universities-selected-for-global-project-on-managing-stress-and-trauma-in-journalism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fojo.se\/en\/eight-bangladeshi-universities-selected-for-global-project-on-managing-stress-and-trauma-in-journalism\/","title":{"rendered":"Eight\u00a0Bangladeshi\u00a0universities\u00a0selected for global project on managing stress and trauma in journalism\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"ingress\">The Fojo Media Institute at Linnaeus University, in collaboration with the Communication and Journalism Educators\u2019 Network (CJEN) Bangladesh, has selected&nbsp;eight Bangladeshi&nbsp;universities<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>to&nbsp;participate&nbsp;in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/-%20https\/capacity4dev.europa.eu\/projects\/https%3A_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>AGILE<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>Project,&nbsp;an EU-funded global initiative&nbsp;to strengthen&nbsp;independent media&nbsp;worldwide.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through the project, selected universities will co-design and implement an extracurricular course titled\u202f\u201cManaging Stress and Trauma in Journalism\u201d.<strong> <\/strong>\u202fThis pioneering initiative,&nbsp;the first of its kind in Bangladesh,&nbsp;aims to equip journalism students with the knowledge and skills needed to manage the emotional and psychological challenges of reporting on crises, disasters and human rights issues.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJournalists in Bangladesh&nbsp;regularly work&nbsp;under intense pressure, yet mental health and emotional resilience are rarely addressed in journalism education. This initiative responds directly to that gap,\u201d says Dr. Jude William&nbsp;Genilo,&nbsp;Chair of CJEN Bangladesh and Pro Vice Chancellor at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Selected universities<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following&nbsp;Universities&nbsp;have been awarded AGILE Project grants to lead course implementation at their respective institutions during&nbsp;2026\u20132027:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bangladesh University of Professionals&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Comilla University&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Daffodil International University&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>American International University-Bangladesh&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Khulna University&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Jagannath University&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Stamford University Bangladesh&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Participating universities will receive&nbsp;\u20ac5,000 over two years,&nbsp;along with access to teaching resources, expert guidance and international learning opportunities.&nbsp;The grant will be disbursed in two&nbsp;installments&nbsp;making room for reiteration of the course after the first implementation. Ms. Sofie Gullberg Fojo AGILE project lead said:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe method matters. Through co-design and genuine collaboration, we aim to ensure that universities take ownership of the course. Allowing space for continuous improvement during implementation will strengthen both the course content and the learning experience.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AGILE is a global consortium (2025-2028) which aims to strengthen independent journalism globally, supported by the\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/capacity4dev.europa.eu\/projects\/https%3A_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Union<\/a>.
