Paul Rapacioli is appointed as the new Director of Media Institute Fojo at Linnaeus University, taking on the task of strengthening journalism in Sweden and internationally.

Fojo to conduct its second media consumption survey in Rwanda

Fojo’s Rwanda Media Programme is set to conduct the second phase of its media consumption survey in early 2024. This survey follows the successful completion of the first survey in 2021, which aimed to assess the Rwandan media sector nationwide, including the rural areas which had not previously been included. 

Rwanda, Somalia and Ethiopia Journalism education exchange programme

Staff from nine university journalism schools in Ethiopia, Somalia and Rwanda participated in an academic journalism education exchange programme in Ethiopia 5-9 June this year. The weeklong exchange was organised by the Fojo Media Institute and hosted by the Fojo-IMS Ethiopia media programme.

Fojo lecture with Sophie Arnö: Tools for trauma-sensitive reporting

The majority of journalists witness traumatic events in their line of work: research suggests that between 80 and 100% of journalists have been exposed to a work-related traumatic event (e.g., Dworznik, 2011; Feinstein et al, 2002; Newman et al., 2003; Pyevich et al., 2003; Smith et al., 2017; Teegen & Gotwinkel, 2001). This fact was presented by Sophie Arnö a journalist, psychologist and psychotherapist specialised in trauma, during a lecture, hosted by Fojo, on trauma-sensitive reporting in April 2023.

University learning tour

Fojo recently arranged a university exchange network tour in Rwanda, bringing together nine academics from as many universities in Rwanda, Ethiopia and Somalia.
